Jazz Off the Wall - Street Art Exhibition From New Orleans to Ascona
In celebration of its 40th year, Jazz Ascona proudly presents "Jazz off the Wall," a vibrant mural created by the renowned visual artist Yuri Catania. Catania, a Swiss-Italian artist born in 1975, is widely recognized for his mastery of the paste-up technique in street art installations. His unique approach involves hand-cut collages overlaid to construct each piece, resulting in a visually striking three-dimensional and tactile appearance. What sets Catania apart is his innovative use of augmented reality, seamlessly blending the digital realm with his physical artwork. "Jazz off the Wall" serves as a captivating exhibition that pays homage to legendary jazz musicians, with Catania's journey commencing in New Orleans. Through his photography, he captures the essence of the artists who have contributed to the greatness of the Ascona Jazz Festival over the past four decades. This mural not only celebrates the rich history of jazz but also transforms into a dynamic and interactive experience, involving both the portrayed subjects and those connected to the project's overarching theme.
